A Heart to Know Him

A Heart to Know Him

"And I shall give them a heart to know Me, that I am YHWH, And they shall be My people and I shall be their Elohim, for they shall turn back to Me with all their heart." -Jeremiah 24:7

When I read this verse, it immediately captured my heart. There is something so deeply beautiful about Abba’s desire to know us and to call us His own. It still humbles me that the Creator of all things would look at me and claim me as His. It reminds us that knowing YHWH is not something we obtain through effort alone. Its a gift that's given. May we be so faithful to never squander or count this set-apart gift as common.

YHWH says" I shall give them a heart to know Me." That tells me this relationship begins with His mercy, not my perfection.

“A Heart to Know Me” -לֵב לָדַעַת (Lev lada’at)

The Hebrew word לֵב (lev), heart, is more than emotion. In scripture, it represents the inner man, the mind, will, understanding, and desires. When YHWH speaks of giving a new heart, He's talking about reshaping how we think, perceive, and choose.

The word יָדַע (yada), to know, goes far beyond information. It means intimate knowing, relational knowing, covenant knowing. This isn't about knowing about YHWH. It's about recognizing Him through an active and lived relationship.

This verse tells me something powerful. The desire to truly know YHWH is itself a gift from Him.

Turning Back with the Whole Heart -שׁוּב (Shuv)

YHWH says His people will turn back to Him with all their heart. The Hebrew word שׁוּב (Shuv) means to return, to restore, to realign. It's not about shame, its about direction.

What encourages me here is that YHWH doesn't say they will return once they've figured everything out. He says they return because He FIRST gives them a heart to know Him.

This shows me that repentance and restoration are not burdens, they are responses to mercy.

Encouragement for your heart

If you feel Abba calling you to seek Him more deeply. That's your evidence that He is already at work within you. Even the longing to return, to realign, to know Him more. That is Him wanting to give you a heart to know Him.

I pray this blog reminds you that you are loved before you behave, and invited before you are perfected. YHWH is faithful to complete what He begins, and when He gives us a heart to know Him, He walks patiently with us as we grow in that knowing

If you’re in a season of returning, relearning, or renewing, be encouraged... you are not behind or forsaken. You are responding to the greatest invitation that exists.
